Wow, it has been quite a while since I’ve posted anything. I just wanted to take a minute to update you all on my National November Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) status.
For those that don’t know, NaNoWriMo is a time when authors around the globe try to set aside one month to really push themselves to produce. It isn’t so much about quality as it is getting the creative juices flowing, and learning how to push through writer’s block and other issues. NaNoWriMo’s goal is that each author would produce 50,000 words of editable content.
The product(s) produced during those 50K words may not be ready for prime time, but they are a great starting point. And publishing your 50K baby isn’t the point. It’s probably still an ugly baby that needs some TLC at this point.
So, how did I do? Well, I didn’t even get to start mine until November 18th, so I was considerably behind the 8-ball. Because of that, I didn’t start with a fresh story, I cheated and picked up at 21,000 words with my latest work, The Mutant Conspiracy.
I’m happy to report that as of midnight, I had 52,580 words. Granted, it’s not an “official” win, but I’m very inspired and encouraged by it. I’ve had quite a few issues and distractions since April of this year, making any writing at all a very slow process. So, to see that I actually made it to the goal, I feel very encouraged.
Thank you to all who have written me and encouraged me to continue. I am looking forward to finishing this one and getting it out sometime early next year. Keep your eyes peeled for it!!
